If Green has grown a backbone over the off season this is what he’ll go with:

08. Molo
09. Robbo
10. McLean
11. Hess
12. Wright
13. Taumalolo

14. Dunn
15. Asiata
16. Hola
17. Gilbert

If he hasn’t grown a back bone this is what he’ll likely go with:

08. Asiata
09. SOP (son of paul - Jake Granville)
10. McLean
11. Cooper
12. Wright
13. Taumalolo

14. Robson
15. Hess
16. Hola
17. Jensen

I like your forwards and bench FBAG;)

Would you be ok with a Papanhausen type player on the bench? ie Drinkwater or HTF even

Out of curiosity-whom would your backs be??

I have a feeling Hampton is going to get the nod for bench utility

Given our past 3 years of mediocre football I’d like for us to stick with the KISS principle in terms of our bench. So no to a Papenhuyzen-esque utility on the bench.

I wouldn't mind if Greeny went with this side:
1) Holmes
2) Feldt
3) Masters
4) Morgan
5) Taulagi / Oniel / Hamiso ?
6) Drinkwater
7) Clifford
8) Mclean
9) Robson
10) Taumalolo
11) Mcguire / Cooper ?
12) Hess
13) Asiata / Gilbert / Dunn
14) Granville / Cotter / Hampton ?

16) Molo
17) Hola

So is it confirmed whether Hess will replace Cooper in the backrow and play 80 or is he just slimming down and getting fit because he wants that spot?
I could see him and Wright pairing together there and Cooper giving about 25 mins in the middle off the bench.
14. Asiata
15. Cooper
16. Hola
17. Molo
would be an ideal realistic bench.

North Queensland Cowboys pluck Michael Bell from outside of top 30 for NRL Nines
SAM FLANAGAN, Townsville Bulletin
February 13, 2020 6:37pm

Michael Bell was expecting to be hanging out with his mates in Townsville this weekend, instead he finds himself on the other side of the country.

Bell has been plucked from outside of the North Queensland Cowboys top 30 squad and parachuted into their NRL Nines team.

The 20-year-old said his jaw hit the floor when he found out he’d be heading to Perth.

“Greeny (Cowboys coach Paul Green) called me and just said “what are you doing this weekend?” and told me the good news that I was going,” Bell said.

“I was absolutely over the moon about it. It was completely out of the blue.

“It’s one of my dreams come true. Putting on the Cowboys jersey and representing North Queensland will be absolutely amazing. I’m so stoked with it.”

Bell, who has a junior contract with the Cowboys, said his family and friends were wrapped he’d been given the chance to experience an event which featured all 16 NRL clubs.

“They were so happy for me, they just said try your best. Go over there and give it your all, you’ve trained hard for it,” he said.

Bell hails from Moranbah, a town which has been fruitful for the Cowboys over the years.

Champion centre Josh Hannay and 2005 grand final captain Travis Norton have both been scouted from the community.

They played on the same hardened fields where Bell learnt his craft and began turning the heads of the Cowboys recruitment staff.

“I started playing when I was about six years old for the Moranbah Miners,” he said.

“I played all my juniors and a bit of seniors for the Miners until I was 17.

“I played for the Mackay Cutters in the Mal Meninga Cup when I was 16 through to 2019 and then I started playing for the Blackhawks last year.

“It’s great up here, I love it. I wouldn’t change anything at the moment.”

The centre spent the first 11 weeks of the pre-season training with the Cowboys squad, learning off the likes of premiership winner Justin O’Neill and Esan Marsters.

“I’ve got to know all the boys pretty well. They’ve all been really welcoming to me.

“I just can’t wait to get out there with them.”

With fans around the country set to ask ‘who’s that?’ when Bell’s name is said by the commentators this weekend, he wants to ensure they won’t forget it anytime soon.

“I’m just going to go out there and try to do my job for the team. I’m going to put my best foot forward and try to perform the best I can in the colours.

“I like seeing a bit of space and early ball in my hand so I’ll see if I can use my speed to get around a few blokes.”

I can’t say I’ve ever heard of a surcharge thrown on a Sunday or Public Holiday game before.

I've seen the name Michael Bell around for awhile now....hopefully he exceeds expectations.

Article mentioned Oneil-i was his biggest detractor..now I want to get behind him.
Hope he can have a big year.

It mentions nothing about O'Neill being his biggest detractor.

Stop lying.

Green has come out and said that Holmes starting on the wing is an option for round 1 so he’s able to build his fitness up. I like it. Hopefully there’s early success and he’s forced to stick with it for the season.

1. Drink
2. Feldt
3. Marsters
4. Opacic
5. Holmes
6. Morgan
7. Clifford

That is undoubtedly our best 1-7 on paper.

I wonder if that's enforced by the stadium or by the club?
