Cooper chasing historic ninth try in nine games.

Quote from NRL.com story.

"When the Cowboys take the field against the Titans on Saturday night, North Queensland's focus will be on sending Johnathan Thurston from the NRL as a winner.

While the spotlight is on JT, second-rower Gavin Cooper could snatch some rugby league history of his own if he scores a try.

A four-pointer would bring his tally to nine tries in the last nine games, which would be unmatched in the history of rugby league - Cooper last Friday equalled Immortal Frank Burge's benchmark of eight tries in eight games, set for Glebe in 1918.

Cooper even joked that breaking the record would allow him to be an Immortal ".

Surely one last "JT to Coopaaaaaahh!!!" is on the cards bigtime.

Should be a betting market for it... and it should be paying around $1.04

It appears that the original NRL article was wrong on this. My post above was a direct cut and paste. I notice that the article now says "for a forward". The Phil Blake (a back) record displayed on Fox sports last night.

Just in case some folk do not know much about Phil Blake.

Check out the try at the 48 second mark of the clip below. Manly Warringah could have used some trys like this in the 1982 and 1983 grand finals. Both losses to Parramatta.

It was well established it was for a forward in all the media coverage I saw. Guess they just forgot to add that part in the article. Journalism!

Who'll set up Coops in round 1 next year to go 10 from 10 and equal Phil Blake?

Does anyone else get that funny feeling that JT will play the first two games of next season to get his mate Coops over the line (and the record)? You heard it here first on the stampede.

Reckon he gets crazy desperate around the 75min mark, takes matters into his own hands and burrows his way over from dummy half.

Either that, or Big Dogs puts him into one of the easiest hattricks he'll ever get (which is honestly a pretty likely scenaro)

Was just thinking about this, was looking for a betting market, can't find one, but when I can think I'll jump on hard, he's a certainty

So, if try’s count, do Bolton’s game suspensions count too? Hahaha.

I could've sworn trial games have counted towards suspensions in the past.
