This is fascist thinking. Who are you to say x old person deserves to die to save y hypothetical suicide? Plus opening up the lockdown conditions will cause a huge spike in infections, even people advocating for this don't dispute that.

I'm no expert but experts are saying there are huge and messy side effects of letting an infectious disease fester in the population, including possible mutations and further preventable deaths due to strain on the health system.

I reject the premise that it is necessary for people to suffer to the point of considering suicide even in a badly damaged economy.

Social safety nets and a humanitarian approach will get us through this. Our government has reacted fairly well in this regard, Centrelink access issues aside.
Fascist? Lol. It’s also fairly fascist to shut down the economy to save a very small minority of people and have the rest of us decimate our savings and begging for a hand out.

It's also very typical of the left and right to exploit any world event to keep us in different camps and acting belligerently rather than showing empathy and love.

While I personally find one of the ideologies more preferably over the other, I find both capitalism and socialism to be two heads of the same snake.

You should read up on what fascism is before you try to use it in a sentence.

NYC is a dem state..
The Mayor has long been a critic of Trump and admin, but has only had positive things to say about them during crisis.

Hospitals would be running out of supplies of everything, everywhere, at some time.

"Find me a hospital anywhere in America that has prepared enough for the outbreak NYC is seeing"

Was a sensible reply on Twitter I spotted.

There are also hot-spots in Detroit, Chicago and New Orleans. The country is ill-prepared because they don't have the health system nor the mentality to protect their most vulnerable with their user pays system. Toying with the idea of opening up at Easter is monstrous.

Australia is a great place to live.

Most people: close down everything right now, ScoMo!!!

Most people: but I still want my salary, a healthy superannuation, a strong economy, groceries, petrol, public transport, take-away food, alcohol, electricity and gas, internet connection, phone connection, television and other entertainment, health services, emergency services, toilet paper etc.

Whilst Trump is focusing on the big issues like how is press conference is rating compared to the Bachelor, he has totally walked away from the "were opening up in Easter" talk, like everyone knew he would.

Hence the importance of listening to the experts.

A leading medical specialist has probably had over a decade of intense training and then another 15-20 years of putting their skills and knowledge into practice. Continually honing their skills and knowledge.

The internet and TV is full of so called 'experts'. They say........ "We should do this" or "We should do that". Many of them have absolutely no training or expertise in the field they are commenting on. The media isn't helping by putting these fake experts on TV.

FFS, my issue is the contempt that many are showing towards those who still have to work outside of their homes. We are being labelled irresponsible, stupid and negligent (if not genocidal and threatening) because we are still showing up to our workplaces. Yet it is the work that many of us are doing in offices, and warehouses, that are enabling the wider population to work from home because it keeps on their gas, electricity, television, internet, and fresh supplies of food and drink etc. It's the work many of us doing that ensures health services and emergency services are still available to those who need it.

If people really want to win the moral argument about working from home, how about they isolate from services that keep others in workplaces? Otherwise, I urge those hypocrites to shut their mouths, and stop w*nking and high fiving themselves.

I've not seen any criticism of people who are legally working? Whomever they are is a small minority at best and possibly mentally challenged.
