I am also interested to see the prices.

I know of an NBA team that opened an amazing new stadium to much fanfare recently. Apparently the prices rose dramatically.
If you mean the bucks it was completely warranted, which I think is same with cows. Bradley Harris was the smallest nba stadium and of if the oldest, and the new stadium is beautiful, plus they’re actually performing heaps better this year and American ticket prices vary a lot depending on demand. I think NQ is the same, there will be a rise, but smiles really does suck compared to the rest of the league.

viewing wise, 1300’s has some decent sight lines bar the first 2 rows of the eastern terrace as the seats are too low. The problem is the lack of decent shitters, the concession stands were an afterthought so the line up area is a pain in the ass for other people walking through, no roof over the stands for cover during the wet season and the corporate facilities are lacking deluxe.

Throw in the fact the western stand was built in the early 80’s as part of the original facility when it was a harness racing track and was never designed to house 3500 people and the coaching and media boxes are just atco huts bolted to the roof, it’s a piece of shit.

it will always house a special place in our hearts, first game, first win, first finals game, first JT game are all up there but it’s time to move forward and into better digs. The new joint will be a catalyst for other development in the city which it is crying out for big time.

The lack of rain cover didn't bother me too much. We got caught in a tropical down-poor one night. Soaking wet. Solution - buy another rumbo.

It was the 2005 Canterbury game when Rod Jensen chased down their winger. Webb also scored his famous try.

sure, I’ll tell my 7 year old son ‘here, have another rum’ when it rains....... I’ve sat through everything from the sunday arvo final in 07 against the warriors to -3 in Canberra in 2000 on a winters night. When you have kids it all changes.

Didn't say it was a solution for you. Was a solution for us.

By the way…….a toddy of rum didn’t hurt the kids who came out on the first fleet. Nor did it hurt all those young fellas at Gallipoli. Keeps ya mighty warm on a cold night.

so it’s officially official, stadium cost has blown out $35mil. I reckon this thing will be pressing hard to be be done in time for 2020, we should get on the front foot and ask for a few away games first up to take a little pressure off the build. The current weather is wanted as much as a Carl Webb flick pass........

Was talking to someone at Cowboys who said it will definitely be ready and they could nearly play their last home game there this year - which obviously they won’t, but confirmed it ready. Also said there’s talk of having a concert there prior to season kick off.
I think we’ll be okay for opening round 2020

I work across the road from it. Nothing happening there at moment. Can say that drainage appears good, no noticeable water lying around. It is considerably higher than ground immediately around it.
For those in Townsvillle there is a large picture of finished stadium in a shop front next to Woolies. It’s a shop front trying to sell corporate spaces at the stadium.

Please disregard my earlier post. My friend may be unnecessarily concerned.

I just read this Townsville Bulletin article suggesting a fake text message was sent to people.

"A FAKE text message claiming the Ross River Dam is about to fail has reportedly been sent to residents in Townsville.

The Townsville Local Disaster Management Group (TLDMG) has told residents to ignore the fake text message.

Queensland Police confirmed they are investigating the incident.

The TLDMG decided to further open the spillway gates further Friday morning to reduce the risk of significant downstream flooding if further rain falls over the dam catchment in coming days".

the irony if 1300’s or the new joint gets destroyed by the water being released at the dam tonight.

So many people wanted water in the dam over a new stadium and it appears said water will probably destroy it.

The potential for flooding is something the designers/decision makers should have taken into consideration before deciding to build. Time will tell if they did.
