The umpires will rightly cop some flak but honestly Paine has to share that equally, he threw away that last challenge out of desperation and got punished

Could only watch the first 45 mins of day 5. About 4 overs after taking the new ball. To me I got the feeling the boys already had the game won in their heads before a ball was bowled. Just the remarks from interviews, also the Aussie commentators were goin off well early. As soon as we took that new ball Cummins and Hazelwood's control was off, along with some pressure. I didn't sleep well, had a gut feeling something was wrong. Up at 4am and saw Stokes ugly mug cheering on the cricket app. Could not believe it.

England bowlers tossing up half volleys that get pumped to the boundary then they stand there with hands on their heads as if they've bowled jaffas. Old school Aussie batsmen would be laughing in their faces over that shit.

There has to be more to that story - surely the passport jab alone doesn't warrant eviction.

Sounds like they were being dicks in general which is fair enough. The hypocrisy lies in their poorly behaved crowds all series and getting upset by suggestions that Archer isn't exactly homegrown. Can dish, can't take.

Looking good to retain the urn tonight fingers crossed

Considering we practically have no openers or lower order at all pretty good effort. Warner has to go surely

Makes one wonder whether Warners form is divine retribution, Smith was very contrite (is that the right word) for his actions & Davey boy hired a publicist to manage the fallout. I realize he had a reasonable WC, but Smith did ad well.
Or maybe he's just not up to test standards anymore

They made us sweat but great effort to retain. Australia clearly the better team so well deserved. Could easily be 3-0 up tbh

Looking forward to next Ashes when our crowds repurpose the Barmy Army chant:

"Same old Aussies
Always cheating"

will become:

"Same old Pommies
Always losing"

Get that up ya!

Yes gotta give credit to the Poms, they hung in there.

This has been a great Ashes series. One of the more entertaining in recent times. Always nice to to smash em 5-0, 4-0 in Oz, but this series so far has had almost everything. Is there another twist in the final game?

Not sure of the actual details/figures, but I understand that Smith needs ~305 runs in the next test to break Bradman's record of most runs in a series (1,000+). Even more incredible, if he makes it, is the fact that he missed a test.
I'm sure someone in the press will get the acurate numbers and use it for some colour as the test progresses.

"Same old Painey,
Always winning"

Gobble on those nuts Poms.

Smith has 671 so far.
Bradman had 974 in 1930.
304 to beat it.

Current standings:

1.Sir Don Bradman (Australia) - 974 Against England in 1930
2. Wally Hammond (England) - 905 Against Australia in 1928-29
3. Mark Taylor (Australia) - 839 Against England in 1989
4. Neil Harvey (Australia) - 834 Against England in 1952-53
5. Sir Vivian Richards (West Indies) - 829 Against England in 1976

Bradman got a triple and 2 double tons in that series
Tubs in 89, they played 6 Tests in that series
Smith so far has been so consistent during a series that you could almost say favours the bowlers.

This is the most remarkable part. The seam and swing during the series have been extreme.

Smith has scored more than half of the runs of the Australian top 7 batsmen in the innings he's played. More than half. Amazing.

Mick Nesser should be the extra bowler who can bat a little. Perfectly suited to the trash decks in England.
