Cotter’s time will come but I don’t think it’s now. It’s important for him to just keep doing what he’s doing at QCup and building that trust with his body.

Shane Wright, Justin O'Neill & Javid named in the QRL Team of the Week:

12. Shane Wright (Mackay Cutters)
Paul Green will be keeping an eye on the young Cowboys forward after he put in another impressive performance for the Cutters, crossing for two tries and running for 122m, in an 80-minute performance.

15. Justin O’Neill (Townsville Blackhawks)
The North Queensland Cowboys centre was influential for the Blackhawks in their 36-6 victory over the Dolphins in Round 6. The former Queensland Maroons centre scored two tries and put the game to bed when he set up a try for a barnstorming Tom Gilbert in the 67th minute.

16. Javid Bowen (Northern Pride)
Experienced Northern Pride centre Javid Bowen was a standout performer in a losing side, registering a huge 201 running metres, including 54 post-contact metres and four tackle breaks.

Mitch Dunn, Tom Gilbert and Peter Hola in the Team of the Week:

12. Mitchell Dunn (Mackay Cutters)
The versatile young Cowboy tried hard for the Cutters and was highly involved for his side in the match. While the Cutters lost out to a polished performance from Burleigh; Dunn played the full 80 minutes, made 20 tackles, ran for 195 metres, had three tackle breaks and kicked for 65 kick metres.

13. Thomas Gilbert (Townsville Blackhawks)
While on the losing side; the effort of young Gilbert week-in, week-out is something to be admired and he produced the goods again. In his 59 minutes on the field, he scored himself a try and ran for 191m from his 19 runs

17. Peter Hola (Northern Pride)
Another lock who was more than solid in a losing side; Hola was a strong performer for the Pride; putting in an eye-catching performance. His 65 minutes on the field saw him reap a try, make 20 tackles and produce 173 run metres.

Good stats from Wright too, wonder if he will get his shot this year.

What's the story on Gilbert, 18 mins is exceptionally low. Injury or form?

XXXX Queensland Residents team for 2019 clash
QRL Media
Sun 5 May 2019, 02:02 PM

The Queensland Rugby League has today announced the XXXX Queensland Residents team to play New South Wales at Dolphin Stadium next Sunday.

Featuring an array of talent from the Intrust Super Cup, the Queensland team will enter camp on the Gold Coast tomorrow.

“We’ll give the players a freshen up early in the week because they’re all obviously coming off club footy,” Queensland coach Jon Buchanan said today.

“Our aim is to get everything right with our preparation to give us the best possible chance against a very strong NSW team.”

The Queensland line-up will feature a host of Residents debutants, with Billy Walters, Nat Neale, Patrick Kaufusi and Mitch Cronin the only players backing up from last year’s 36-20 loss to NSW Residents in Sydney.

Buchanan said he was pleased with the overall strength of the team and its strike power in key positions.

“There’s a number of really good players who have missed out, which is what can happen when you’re picking a team like this out of the Intrust Super Cup,” he said.

“In consultation with the QRL and fellow selectors, we’ve made every effort to provide an opportunity for players who have been involved in Queensland’s junior pathways.”

Reece Robson named for NSW too for those wanting to have a look at him. Unsure if he’s starting or off the bench cause I saw Billy Brittain named too.

Tom Gilbert - 42 mins, 15 runs, 117m, 38 post contact, 2 tackle breaks, 29 tackles, 3 missed, 2 ineffective

Good numbers from Jensen and Wright as usual. Rough night for the Pride, Hola made the most metres of any Pride forward. Gideon went off for a HIA and Gilbert was sin binned, hence the lower than usual minutes.
