With a severe tropical cyclone approaching I'd like to wish all my fellow NQers in its path the very best of luck.
PS...I hope that second system following it doesn't get up steam as well or somewhere is in for it double.
- I know this isn't cowboys related but this is where most of us look first -

Yeah, not much action here either... pretty calm outside, not all that much rain. It's wet, but it isn't pouring down like you'd expect.
It's eerily quiet, actually. The calm before the storm, maybe?

The radar says it should be hitting Innisfail in about 10-15 minutes. Good luck to all! I have my fingers crossed for you.

What a lame cyclone.. it's not even windy here.. Work is probably going to call me in soon.

*shakes head at Jordan* turn on the TV or Radio first before making comments like that.
I hope everyone in Innisfail and surrounds make it through unscathed. Though judging by the reports there is going to be a lot of property damage. Good luck, we are all thinking of you.
My prayers are out to all in the path of this monster.

Try telling that to my 75 year old grandma at Mission Beach :cussing:
Thankfully she is alright.
Think before you post next time Jordan.

townsville/thuringowa is going ok at this stage as many have said. However, innisfail has been terrorised. i cant get onto anyone up there as you might imagine. have spoken to my aunty in kurramine beach who declined to evacuate last night and she has told of last night being the scariest night of her life. roofs have been blown all around the far north and quite a few houses have seen walls collapse. heres hoping ty's family - along with all other residents of innisfail - are ok. scary as all hell

I know all three JCU campuses are closed today...Cairns, Vincent and Douglas (Fortunaltely, I have one Tute on Mondays and I hope to make that up tomorrow night) - What about all the other students here?

We are copping some rain and wind here now and the gutters are starting to flood. I am in Gulliver and it tends to flood here.
Our best wishes go out to our fellow Nq'ers in Innisfail, hopefully all our crew up there got through this unscathed.

I know how you feel about flooding Dan...I live in Heatley (I still had to go to work today and not Uni later on this arvo). I hate it on Fulham Road (where I live between the heatley schools and not far from the Long Tan Pool) when it floods and all the 4WDs wreck your gardens...

Whats scary is the 2nd cyclone coming in the Coral Sea. Cyclone Wati - Sitting 2000km off the coast, Cat 3 - tracking straight for the T'ville District. Moving at 13km p/h and intensifying.
Maybe 3-4 days away at this stage. Lets just hope poor Innisfail doesn't cop it again! Though, they are saying that is tracking more for this region at the moment.

You might have a birthday to remember Bernster.
Best wishes to all affected by this cyclone.
Bob Catter was on TV earlier saying virtually all banana plantations have been destroyed which will put around 4000 out of work. I'm sure there will be plenty of other nasty flow on affects.
Lets hope Cyclone Wati decides to turn elsewhere.

It has definatly devistated all in its path, lucky for the rest of us it didn't have a very wide front...
As for watti, lets hope it fizzes into nothing, not what the area really needs...
Our thought are with everyone in the affected area!

I know this other cyclone is going west south west and probably won't hit us...I have been looking on the BOM site all morning.
