We'll have to see about the injuries to Singy & Payne.
You want to drop Sweeney & Smith?? :whatthe:
Webb played ok in the Guns, But Hannay (who i'm a big fan of) was a bit ineffective in defence & missed some easy kicks. (I know so did Thursty) Hardly a case for re-instatement. Same with Rocket
If Lillyman isn't in the run on side next week i'll eat my season ticket!! He's going great at the moment. :thumbright:

lillyman is just going great guns. he's come along way in my opinion.
as for sweens... after tonight i would unfortuantely say put him back to the guns. he didnt stay on his wing nearly enough and it cost us.

Well they say a win is a win, albiet a very messy one. But with debutants, injury disruption, players playing out of position etc I never expected a whitewash. Manly won the second half 12 - 4, and I gotta say I was never comfortable with the scoreline throughout the game.
Sweeney, for mine, is not as good as BB and the later should be in the run on team next week. We will have to wait on the Injuries but even so I can't see any reason to drop anyone else at this stage. Manly targeted Ty quite a bit and he did a bloody good job all night. The debutants went ok, given the circumstances, and will improve with each hit out. The only critisism I had was a small question on Seargent. He hit it up often but wasn't all that effective, IMO. The times he had a shot at the line saw him trying to spin out of tackles and in each occasion he was stopped. Now if it was Webb who was attacking the try line he would have just barged his way through and over. I don't think we should drop Seargent, but Charlie is too damn good to left languishing in the Guns espescially when we need to call on player experience and leadership as was the case last night.
Rocket also is another experienced player we need to have somewhere, he may not be blowing them off the park in the Guns, but put him on the spot in firsts and he will fire up, and if these injuries keep a few players out of firsts then I would rather see Rocket and Webb in there instead of debutants. I prefer to stick with the tried and true, the young blokes will get their chance at Origin time.
BB was the only NRL player in the Guns that really put their hand up yesterday. They played well but not good enough to unseat any of the players in firsts. Webb didn't fire up until the 2nd half. Cashmere on the other hand played a blinder.

The cowboys biggest problem presently is their goalkicking. Thurston was average at best on saturday night.

Hannay's goalkicking performance for the Young Guns was nothing to write home about either.

Time for a kick off at training I think.

I would rather see Thursty keep kicking. Dont believe Hannay is good enough to demand a spot in the first grade team anymore. I dont believe we can afford to have both him and Bowman in the centres, we need speed. I wouldnt like to see him in there just to kick goals.

I agree with TP, Jake must keep his spot.

why cant we have more than one goal kicker? Have them specialise in their best areas then decide once a try has been scored as to who will have the kick. Hannays sideline conversions are so much better than the "easy" ones. in saying that ... jt had a great one

Nothing wrong with haveing 2 goal kickers in the team NQ Gurl. As long as the players can hold their spot on form and ability. I just dont believe Hannay deserves to be in the team at the moment.

Webb might get a run this weekend ,being the Guns players player of the week
he even gets to play against Melbourne I think he has a soft spot for a couple of their fowards

I don't think Thursty has enough experience to be our first choice kicker. He seemed to loose confidence fairly quickly after missing a couple on Sat Night. Would have been worth giving Smithy a crack?!

Maybe they should've given smith a go, I can't recall seeing him do too much else out there last night. I used to think he was ok but I'm starting to change my mind. Maybe Webb should come in for him untill he gets some form happening. He seemed to be off the boil last night.
