Bloody hell, I just looked at the driver/team changes for 2010 and it seems it may well be a looooong year for the Blue oval brigade, better buy a couple of extra beer fridges Horse. DJR & FPR are the only decent teams.......4 good Fords v about 20 Holdens.....a tad lop sided wouldn't you think ?
On the up side I can't wait to see them do battle on this new "Yas Marina" circuit, it looks awsome, and the extended Bahrain track, Should be some bloody good racing.

It's all to do with factory sponsorship Thommo. Ford decided in 2008 that they would only provide financial support to 2 teams from 2009 onwards whereas Holden still share money among all their teams. Ford dumped sponsorship of DJR & Team Vodafone. I'm sure they were pretty embarrassed when their 2 chosen teams did nothing special for the year whereas DJR & Team Vodafone finished 1st & 3rd in the championship.

I guess DJR can only hope Ford see the error of their ways and help them out in 2010, Vodafone has gone over to Holden and I don't think they give a toss. I believe Dick has done enough for Ford over the years to warrant decent recognition and support. I heard on the grapevine that Ford Motors U.S.A wants to scrap individualization of it's brand in countries like Australia and have the U.S parent deliver specific models to all, such as discontinue the Falcon and replace it with the U.S Taurus. As far as I know the American models are world wide anyway and it's only Australia who designs and builds it's own brand. I hope like hell that it doesn't happen because the Ford Falcon has been an icon here for a very long time and imo needs to stay...........f..the U.S and it's intended monopoly.

European originating models , eg, Ford Focus is built in Oz and Europe. & the Ford Fiesta (currently built in Germany) is soon to be built in Thailand. These models are sold pretty much worldwide. Part of Ford's (global world?) policy.

It sounds like Focus and Fiesta will be retained, but I wonder what they will replace our Fairmont's and Fairlane's with ??.......and the "Ghia" badge might disapear also ?
I don't like the sound of it at all........Commodore v Taurus........that battle is already over !! The Ford Australia site says nothing will happen for 18 months and also that the Falcon will essentially be a Mustang from then on. The Territory and Falcon Wagon's will also be discontinued and they are replacing the current 5.4L V8 with a 5.0L Mustang version which is apparently lighter and more powerful.

I was talking to DJR's Race Director recently about the prospect of another car maker entering the scene. He said he couldn't see it happening any time soon. I wonder if that will change if their only choice is a front wheel drive Ford?

Research tells me that the new motor is the Coyote 5.0L. 307kW & approx 530Nm straight out of the box. Very impressive crate figures. Heaps of room for FPV to wring plenty more kW out.
Also their are strong rumours of a GTHO being released over the next year.

Ford's next generation large family car is supposed to be a choice of Rear wheel drive or All wheel drive, essentially under the skin it will be a Mustang and designs for the new exterior will take 18 months starting from about now.
Ford Falcon.... R.I.P .........http://bigpondnews.com/articles/Technology/2010/01/19/Fans_rally_online_to_save_Ford_Falcon_418775.html

Have only seen a few myself, Bundy Red, Hrt and Jack Daniels...........nothing from the blue oval boys yet.....not that there is many of them left. I hope FPR come up with something decent this year, last years livery sucked. What do think of this new Yas Marina track ?
I like the coldroom idea...as long as it has a TV....

I was driving behind a new Ford Taurus today. Damn it's ugly from behind, although that's probably the view the Holden drivers will get to see plenty of.

They are the ugliest thing since the Citrone....spelling nazi's jump in here.........and from the tech and spec reports I've seen Holden could beat them with Gemini's..........and I'm a Ford boy from waaay back........

I see it looks more than likely that the Chev Camaro will hit our shores in 2011. Holden say the price will be around 75k for the SS. That's about half the price of current importers. It'll sell plenty, especially as it will be keeping the Chevrolet badge.....I'll put my hand up.

Holden versus Hyundai doesn't sound very appealing to me.

I doubt we would see hyundai, but Toyota will probable jump in they're already in the Nascar, will be a reasonably easy transition for them, hopefully the will use the Aurion body and not the camry...

I don't think Holden & Ford will make it easy for any manufacturers wanting to come on board.
I tend to agree with them, considering all the time and money they have both invested in the sport to get it where it is today.

I only needed 2 lol, and you knew I would pick another ford which only really really left a choice of either FPR car and besides an avid v8 fan such as yourself would have known or atleast had an idea of who he was going to choose out of the rest. Anyway it seems as though your still looking for excuses and as far I'm concerned it is not worth it so stick the prize where you think the sun lives and next year ( if we do this ) the first 2 picks will need to be sent by Friday night and the last pick Saturday night before midnight (to allow for accidents during the shoot-out ).
