Just been having a look at the photos from the Broncos game just curious to know iff there's any rivalry between the COWBOYS and Broncos fans with them being your nearest club. For example Bradford are LEEDS nearest rivals and i hate them, their fans have a massive chip on their shoulders as well as a bad attitude i should know for im married to one.
Any of you fellas travel to Brisbane for the game iff so what kind of support (large numbers)did the COWBOYS have their.Judging by the photo's you seemed to have a good time.
KEEP THE FAITH

Other people may tell you other stories, but I found a rivalry very friendly. And as I said in another post I felt the Cowboy support would have been about 40% of that 47200. :gocowboys

Hey PC, it was my 1st visit to Lang Park & I was surprised how much crowd support there was for our boys. Bloody (oh I can't say that word can I because you pommies get offended by it. hehe) Cowboys jerseys, shirts & flags were everywhere. At the airport on the way home the next day all the staff were saying how well the boys played & how good it was to see. The taxi driver reckons Bennetts gotta go & the Cowboys are the new force in Qld Rugby League. That was in between him weaving all over the road & falling asleep I think. I think he may have been drowning his sorrows all night. Ya gotta luv it.:salute:

the support goes multiple ways really

you either love both teams, love one and not worry too much about the other (ie choose them in tips over sydney based teams) OR love one hate the other.

for me - i have to say that i support both. Mainly because broncos were my first team being the queensland team. the likes of langer, renouf, lockyer, walters, gee ...... thousands of great names over the years. then the cowboys came into the comp and i was sort of like ... meh .... its another queensland team ... i'll support them but not get quite so interested in them. then i moved to townsville and cowboys are my life and broncos have taken a SLIGHT backseat but not entirely gone.

It's sort of a big brother / little brother or City Slickers / Country Cousins thing but the lines are getting blurred.

A few years ago, there'd be mostly broncos jerseys at DFS for the derby. These days you'd be lucky to see one.

Talking to a few broncos supporters at the caxton after the game on s unday and they weren't too unhappy, ill quote one of them "Could never have really lost today cuz either my favourite or 2nd favourite team will win", Im the lone cowboy in me uni and work group with a heap of broncos all wanting bennets head on a stick marched down caxton lol

I've seen both sides of the Bronco supporters lately with my brothers being diehard drongo supporters. They are slowly changing their attitude and atleast are finally accepting the broncos being beaten by a BETTER team. It's good to finally see them realizing the error of their ways.
I took the boys down to footy training yesterday, whilst wearing my old Cowboy gurnsey proudly, and as usual there were a heap of other parents wearing the bronco suits. I spoke to quite a few of them and I still can't believe they are saying the same bull****. It is always..." Geez the broncos played bad " or " It's not the players fault, they do what bennett wants so the cowboys beat wayne bennett not the broncos !!" I was there for about 2 hrs and not once did I hear " Hey the Cowboy's played well, they are better than brisbane at the moment " not one little shred of congratulations......I tried really hard to be civil but in the end gave up and walked away, I must be mellowing out in me old age because I had ample reason to thump a couple of them and didn't even say a bad word. I suppose with the kids all around too I was concious of my behavior, god only knows what would have happened had I been at the local.....reckon I'll find out friday arvo !!!

pc i have been going to cowboys v broncos matches in brisbane since 95 when the broncos played out at anz stadium and i remember going there in my cowboys jersey and getting more crap from broncos fans than what comes out of phil goulds mouth. to make matters worse there would usually be no more than 100 cowboys supporters in the whole crowd. i think the fact we have more supporters in brisbane may also be due to the fact that the cowboys recieve much more exposure in the press and on t.v and also due to the fact that are a good honest football team i know a lot of my friends love to watch the cowboys play more than the broncos and they have lived their whole lives in brisbane.

I remember the last Cowboys v Broncos game I went to at ANZ Stadium. The crowd was around 25,000 and I was sitting there in my Cowboys gear getting totally heckled for the whole game. It didn't help that we got thrashed by about 40 points on the day.

On that day, I only spotted about 5 fans in Cowboys gear. Last Sunday, you couldn't look at any part of the stadium without seeing a whole bunch of Cowboys supporters.

We could have been in trouble on Sunday when leaving the ground. We were weaving through a large group of Broncos supporters when I heard my son call out (most uncharacteristically for him) at the top of his voice "Broncos Suck". On any other day we would have been in danger but I guess we were lucky that on Sunday most Broncos supporters agreed with him.

Going by the jerseys worn in the crowd it looked like the crowd was 40% Cowboys.

But interesting thing bought up on the radio here this week - how many of the people wearing the white derby shirts are Cowboys supporters and not Broncos supporters?

Most of them probably would have claimed to be Cowboys supporters after the game.

For sure.

It would be interesting to see them do the shirts with the same design but in the two teams colours just to show which team has the most support.

It sure feels like the momentum is swinging more to the Cowboys now.
