Slow start no indication for NYC Cowboys

A slow start was no indication of the superb effort to follow as the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys side trounced the Sharks 56-10 in the Toyota Cup.

Trailing 10-0 after the first 15 minutes, the Cowboys had no momentum in attack until the 18th minute when number 7 Michael Morgan crossed for his side’s first try.

After that it was all one way traffic as the Cowboys found their rhythm and ran away with the game.

Leading 18-10 at the break, the second half was an avalanche of points as the Cowboys repeatedly found the try-line.

The Sharks never gave up, trying to the end but without an answer to the Cowboys attack.

Troyden Watene had a brilliant night with the boot, landing several from the sideline while Michael Morgan not only scored his side’s first try but also crossed in the final minute to bring up the final score.

North Queensland Toyota Cowboys 56 (Michael Morgan 2, Wayne Ulugia 2, Chippie Korostchuk, Michael Parker-Walshe, Moses Pangai, Steve Eliott, Troyden Watene tries, Troyden Watene 8 goals)
d Cronulla Sharks 10 (Josh Toole, Joe Roqoko tries, Chad Townsend 1 goal)

The U20's Player of the Match went to Tyson Martin

and just about the whole team got a mention from Kristian Woolf

I'd like to add my own voice and give a wrap to Troyden Watene for his goal kicking - just about all the conversion attemps were out near the sidelines and he kicked just about all of them (only missed two, near the end of the game). Looking at the player stats tables in the Big League - Troyden has been kicking at just over 60% for the season. Yesterday he was kicking like a 90% player. :woot:
