St George too strong in Toyota Cup
Saturday, May 09, 2009

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys found it tough going in the round 9 Toyota Cup clash against the Dragons, with the visitors finding the try line many times in a 48-16 win at Dairy Farmers Stadium.
Dominating early, the Dragons compiled a convincing 20-0 lead after 27 minutes before Chippie Korostchuk found the try line to register the Cowboys' first points minutes later.
Trailing 26-4 at half time, Cowboys centre Moses Pangai scored immediately after the break to narrow the gap but it wasn't long before St George continued on their try-scoring spree.
For the Cowboys, Troyden Watene kicked two from three goals while Dragons halfback Beau Henry scored 20 of his side's points.
St George Illawarra Dragons 48 (Beau Henry 2, Kalifa FaifiLoa, Dean Whare, Henry Raiwalui, Alex McKinnon, Kane Linnett, Jake Marketo, Mitch Rein tries Beau Henry 6 goals)
d North Queensland Toyota Cowboys 16 (Chippie Korostchuk, Moses Pangai, James Segeyaro tries, Troyden Watene 2 goals)

TWO Cowboys under-20s players have been charged by the match review committee in the wake of their 48-12 loss to the Dragons on Saturday night.
Hooker James Segeyaro (grade one dangerous throw) and five-eighth Ben Cronin (grade two striking) were both charged.
The club is likely to take the early guilty plea for Segeyaro which would see him free to play this weekend against the New Zealand Warriors.
But a decision will be made today on Cronin who will miss one game with the early plea or two if he fights the charge and loses.
Coach Kristian Woolf said he would need to analyse video footage before making a decision on Cronin, with the incident occurring in a tackle involving numerous players.
The club did individual reviews yesterday but will look over footage of the 67th-minute incident today.
"We'll have a good look at them both, with James, his carryover points are low so I don't think he'll miss any time," Woolf said.
"But we'll have to have a look at Ben's.
"We've been doing reviews and haven't got around to looking at the video to see if he has a case to answer.
"I couldn't see it (at the time), there were a number of players in the tackle."
