QRL Footy Tipping - The Clock Is Ticking!

TIME is running out to register for QRL Footy Tipping, back for another season, with more grand final tickets and weekly prizes up for grabs.

Having grown in popularity each season, the competition is expected to be fierce again after www.qrl.com.au recorded a record numbers of visitors in recent weeks.

Many keen tipsters have already enrolled and one thing is certain – it will take a supremely talented (and maybe just a little lucky) fan to lead home the field in 2006.

The unique competition covers both the Queensland Wizard Cup and National Rugby League, so a broad knowledge of rugby league could be considered an advantage.

Naturally to the winner go the spoils and this year the big catch is a package to the September 16 Queensland Wizard Cup final and the National Rugby League final on October 1.

The prize includes accommodation, air fares and VIP seating at both deciders. A special invite to the Grand Final Luncheon for the Queensland Wizard Cup is also included.

Weekly winners receive fantastic merchandising gifts from the QRL, XXXX and Crushers Leagues Club.

Previous award winners have come from as far afield as Canada, with entry open to all global participants. Air fares to the grand finals are only covered domestically.

To register your entry simply click on the ‘Footy Tipping’ option on the lefthand menu, fill out the details and then let fly with your fearless predictions.

Good luck and enjoy!

Women Know Their Tips

THERE’S no better sign that rugby league is a game for both sexes than the QRL Crushers Leagues Club Footy Tipping ladder. Currently the lead in the online competition is tied between three contestants – all of them female.

Tracey Mason of Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, Tegan Bradshaw of Carindale on Brisbane’s southside and Fay Young of Idalia, Townsville (aka Nanna Fay), are all on 28 points after three rounds.

This represents a total of their combined selections in the Queensland Wizard Cup and National Rugby League.

Ms Mason is the latest weekly winner, remarkably tipping the card in a round where Souths Logan beat Tweed Heads, Ipswich overcame Wynnum Manly and NRL premiers Wests Tigers fell to the New Zealand Warriors.

For forecasting all correct 12 winners, Ms Mason received a bonus two points and a merchandise package from Crushers Leagues Club, XXXX and the QRL.

She also goes into the draw for a special ‘bonus prize’ at the end of the season, with the chosen entrant to receive two VIP seats, flights, lunch and accommodation to the Wizard Cup grand final on September 16.

Other weekly winners so far this season have been Matt Buchbach of bayside suburb Lota and Karyn Costello of Edmonton, just outside Cairns.

The overall leading tipper at the end of competition receives the above prize PLUS two premium seats, flights and accommodation for the NRL grand final on October 1.

The efforts of Ms Bradshaw and Mrs Young to be co-leaders of the competition are commendable, with neither receiving any bonus points thus far.

At the end of three rounds the highest possible score would be 42 points with bonus points or 36 points without the bonuses.
