illegal.
Today i went to a drive through bottolo with my 17 yr old brother to buy a carton of beer for myself. I asked young mate if i could grab a carton and he said you will have to show me id and the young fella in the car will have to show id. So he said well i wont be able to sell you the carton as he can not sell grog to people with minors in the car. So i said if i got a 2 yr old kid in the car he wouldn't be able to sell me grog. To that he said i can assume that the 2 yr old wouldnt be drinking. How young can you assume that someone wont be drinking in this day and age.
Anyone heard of anything like this?

yep....happens a fair bit here in brisbane.
basically, liquor licensing is trying to crack down on adults providing to minors. i know it can't be stopped, but they are well within their rights to refuse you service with a minor in the vehicle.
i had my little cousin in the bottle shop with me one day (wasn't leaving her in the car). she was tapping the beer carton while i was paying for it, and then the idiot red head attendant said to me 'if that child hits that carton again, i'm going to ask her for ID'. i got my money and told him to get ****ed.

i got carded just to buy a bottle of coke at BWS. and at Dan Murpheys, even though I was purchasing the drinks, my mate got asked for ID. They are cracking down on it and, sure, something needs to be done but are they going a little too far????? I mean come on!!!!! ID REQUIRED FOR COKE??!?!?!?!?

if you are doing nothing wrong then it shouldn't be an issue ..i mean how hard is it to pull your licence out and show them.

was doing nothing wrong when buying the coke - just thought it was ridiculour that i had to show id for it. she told me they would ask for id even if i was just buying a bag of ice

it is stupid to say you cant buy grog when you are with minors because minors will always find a way to get their hands on grog. If they were serious about it they would charge a minor on the spot if they are caught in public drunk and disordley or carrying drinks down the street. they are going about it all teh wrong way imo.

nq_gurl...licenced place. yes, i know it's stupid, but they can do whatever they like.
the one that bothers me the most? nightclubs who scan your id for 'future reference' and to keep a list of troublemakers.
i don't even know if that's legal at all...

Times have certainly changed since I last went to the Disco :ponder:...
Last time I decided to go out on the town after a bloody good Saturday arvo session, I got to the door of the club and laughed at the young-uns infront of me trying to talk their way in..." I'm 18 Man, call me brother and he'll tell ya",,,and $hite like that. The sad thing was that when it came to my turn the cheeky ******* said " What are you laughin at grandpa...the f#*ken RSL is on the other side of town "...I took a swing at the *****, ended up on me ar$e on the footpath...didn't notice the bouncers standing next to me when I went in and promptly got shoved into a cab and told to "f off home ya silly old *****!"...Meh the bloody music was so damn loud I couldn't hear meself think...and that was outside...so I wouldn't have stayed long anyway....I hate loud music nowdays...I suppose it's the thought that counts and atleast for a little while I thought I was young again...

thommo, i got kicked out of a pub for pulling a flag down off a wall. must've been a slow night, because i drank enough to cover 3 of the bar staff's wages.
anyone in a position of some sort of power (ie. bouncers), abuse their privilege of power. yes, they put up with a huge number of morons, but fair go you idiots. most of them can't even spell their first name.
