View Full Version : Gold Coast ?????

I know the race is down to 3 names, Pirates, Titans and Stingers, but really are these names really going to suit a Gold Coast team or area. I was thinking the other day, and i came up with 5 other names which i believe would be better than the ones suggested. The Sun, Heat, Surf, Waves and Breakers. They may sound a little American or may not suit Rugby League...opinions...????

Remember the Townsville Suns. The Phoenix Suns didn't like them using the name so the Suns became the Crocs.

I think Breakers would be good but the kids would prefer to see pirates running along the sidelines rather than breaking waves. It might be difficult for the wingers as well, running through the whitewash.

i like breakers...but thats because my bro plays for the sunshine coast breakers (union).

I guess the Pheonix Suns wouldnt have liked it due to the fact its a basketball side. :thumbright: Maybe

I reckon CEO Micheal "CHOPPER" Searle, will end up going with "GOLD COAST TITANS" - Pirates, sounds a bit **** weak to me, too far-fetched.

"Remember the Titans" was a popular movie a few years back (not saying I liked it), so they could play the theme song off that movie as they run out each week at Carrara Stadium.

Nah, 'Breakers' has undesirable connotations e.g. the milk popper and that cheezy tv series from way back.

The Titans is what it has turned out to be. Bit American, and a little out of place for a rugby league name. Oh well....good luck to the Gold Coast Titans
