Maroons 'won't listen' to outside opinion

Queensland State of Origin captain Darren Lockyer says the Maroons will not be listening to opinion from outside sources in the lead-up to next week's vital second match of the series.

The Maroons were heavily criticised for being "out-muscled" by New South Wales in the opening 20 minutes of Origin one.

But Lockyer says the team knows what is required to turn around the opening one-point loss in Sydney.

"There's going to be some criticism, stuff like that," he said.

"We can't really control the outside influences, it's about us, what we do this week to get ourselves prepared as best we can for the game."

Queensland half-back Johnathon Thurston said the Maroons had learned from their mistakes and were confident of a better performance in game two.

"You know, we just coughed up too much ball in the first 20 and they put us away for it," he said.

"So, we'll learn from that and hopefully we'll prepare better for game two."

Meanwhile, Queensland prop Carl Webb said he was looking forward to setting the tone for the team in the starting line-up after beginning the first game on the bench.

"We've got a big job on our hands, I think that's all of us, but just on a personal note I wasn't really happy with my game in Origin I, and copped a bit of criticism over it but there's still two and three to go," he said.
