Media ban on 'drained' Thurston

QUEENSLAND Origin coach Mal Meninga has put halfback Johnathan Thurston off-limits to the media.
Meninga said today Thurston is mentally drained from media interviews in the lead-up to the Anzac Test with New Zealand earlier this month and needs to be left alone.
Queensland had its first training session this morning at the Hyatt Regency at Coolum, which has transformed its golf driving range into a football field for the Maroons.
Meninga has brought in several Origin legends to help prepare the young Queensland side, with Trevor Gillmeister giving tackling lessons today.

A media ban because he is drained ?

C'mon JT, don't hide. Qld and all the Cowboys Supporters are proud of this kid with an amazing gift ( the ability to play and set up great plays). JT is hard enough to approach as it is, try tracking him down at the after game events. As my daughter said " No wonder he is so good on the field, off the field he is even harder to get hold of."

off-topic, but we should start a betting pool on when the Ch.Nein team first mention Andrew Johns in the Origin broadcast :p.

My guess is 6 minutes :).

I'm in! I bet that he is mentioned at least 6 times before the ball has even been kicked off.

i'm with walter on this one. far before the ball is kicked off you'll hear how this is entering to a new age .... one without god almight- i mean andrew johns. we will hear a lot more as the game progresses. how nsw seem to be missing him .... how he would never make the same mistakes that gower and anasta are making .... blah blah blah

last year i was in an exam until almost 9pm on the night of origin 2. Was not impressed. so many of the students (myself included) wore our origin gear to the exam to show we were not impressed. AND it was so unfair as the examination supervisors would often leave the room (obviously not all of them at the same time) to check on the scores. i remember when i finished the exam the lady came up to me and said "you havent missed anything yet they havent even kicked off" I get in the car full of confusion and hope only to hear that they were in the 20-odd minute. since i live 30mins from the uni i dropped in at my aunty's place to watch the remainder of the first half then raced home in the break. nothing like that this year thank god!

I wouldn't be suprised to see Joey at origin as a special guest commentator.

i'd say so. before the game, during half time, and post match when they have the 3 "QLD" and 3 NSW panel members discussing plays etc.

lucky. my last one is at 8:15am on the day of origin 2. I hate exam time - hate it even more at the moment with a clash in my timetable which they can not change so i have to go into lock down for a day to do the two of them. dammit. *just think origin*just think origin*just think origin* Breathe!

Joey will get a mention in the first minute of Commentary before the game kicks off, we should start a pool on WHO mentions him first....my bet is Sterlo. When QLD win (ha ha) they will put the big SOS out to him for sure.
Come back Joey.......your State needs you blah blah.

My imagination is going like this: Qld win first game, NSW the second and at Melbourne, the NSW team will run on with 12 players. All of a sudden, Andrew Johns decends from the heavens (on a wire from the channel 9 helicopter), discards his halo and wings, checks to see if he is on the big screen then kicks off.
After Shane Warne delivers the ball of course (checking the big screen to make sure ONLY he is on it) whilst answering his SMS mail.

Im going to be n lockdown mode mainly in the first week because three of my exams are on the Wednesday afternoon, Thursday night and Friday afternoon on those days.

Then I have another one on the following Wednesday afternoon - and then I can go home and chill out and watch the second State of Origin game - with a bottle of Bundy Rum awaiting me...:beerchug:
