I really like the look of this side apart from Tate who has more or less been injured all year and Berrigan who has been underachieving big time. Cam Smith is an 80 min player so why is Berrigan there? I think there are other utility players more deserving. Good to see Steve Bell finally get a run and Johnson get the nod before Harrison.

We will get hammered....Tate again, yeah he deserved to be reselected didn't he after his error riddled first game. Interesting to note no Billy the Kid either. I would have him before Tate anyday regardless of match fitness. JT & Lockyer in the Halves again.....bye bye game 2 & series.

They'll get it right some time in the next few years.

It's interesting most NSW coaches thought that Lockyer should have been full back but the Qld heirachy couldn't see it. Maybe we should get a NSW coach next year that doesn't have any Broncos baggage.

I'm just wondering where our attacking power is going to come from.

How different would it have been if we kicked the field goal in game 1?

i agree totally. to be honest i dont think lockyer should even make the team full stop. but it's pointless crying about it cause it'll never happen until the day he retires. i hope the NSW smash QLD, maybe it'll wake some people up and realise that lockyer is a has been. (thats just my opinion say what you will) and again with JT in half back. sounds like the NSW coaching staff know more than the QLD coaching staff to cause everyone except QLD seems to see the fact that JT isnt a half back and lockyer hasnt impressed me since he played in the test. at full back!

In a nutshell....... the Bennett factor still looms large in the QRL boardrooms. I personally think that the board needs sacking regardless of the Game 2 result. Too much stagnating moss in there lacking fresh input.

To Mal Meninga:

You sir are a weak kneed pansy...... grow some nuts, put Lockyer back at 1 FFS...... that would have solved a lot of selection headaches.

My heart bleeds for young Matty Bowen....replaced by a New Zealander....... one that lacks the attacking firepower of Bowen also. The typcasting of running little men out of the backs continues.

How can they seriously think Berrigan offers more off the bench than Matty?

I am flabbergasted that Berrigan retains his bench spot ahead of Bowen. I guess I was resigned to the fact that Bowen was going to lose his starting position (either to Lockey or Hunt) - but I can't believe he is axed altogether... He is a genuine game-breaker who actually puts the oppostion in two minds...

Totally devastated.....

I can't see us getting close to a win (especially with Tate still in the 17 - what's the deal with that!!!). I would have had slater in the mix somewhere...

I do think Core Parker's inclusion is warranted and Carroll is brutal in defence (or at least he used to be!!)...

It's hard enough living in Sydney at SOO time when we lose... but when we concede the game at the selection table - it's just heart-breaking...

But then again - I could be wrong....

Inglis in serious Origin doubt
By Wayne Heming

QUEENSLAND wing Greg Inglis is in serious doubt for the second State of Origin match against New South Wales because of a back injury.
Selectors were informed the Melbourne teen was suffering a stress fracture, just hours after naming him on the wing for the June 14 match at Suncorp Stadium.
"It's a stress fracture of an old injury," Queensland chairman of selectors Des Morris said today.
"He's in doubt but we won't be making a decision until tomorrow.
"Our team doctor is liaising with Melbourne's team doctor right now.
"They are e-mailing scans and discussing his injury but we won't be making a decision until after we have all the medical opinions."
The injury to Inglis, who made a two-try debut in Origin I in Sydney, is another disruption to the Queensland camp, with injury clouds also hanging over centre Justin Hodges and second rower Tonie Carroll. Penrith fullback Rhys Wesser is believed to be Inglis's shadow player.
Queensland lost the series opener 17-16 in Sydney.

ONE is no longer the loneliest number for Clinton Schifcofske and Josh Hannay, selected along with the game's most feared hitter, Tonie Carroll, for State of Origin III in Melbourne.

Neither Schifcofske nor Hannay have played in the last three years for the XXXX Queensland Maroons, having previously been members of Origin's infamous 'One Game' club.

Yet on July 5 at Melbourne's Telstra Dome they will have an opportunity to build on their record and promote their future claims in a must-win encounter to decide the series.

Remarkably Hannay, who has played nine Queensland Wizard Cup games this year, was only a week ago being considered for the Queensland Residents team to play a curtain-raiser to the Maroons.

Hannay last played for his state in Game 3 of the 2003 series. Schifcofske last played in Game 1 of the 2002 series.

They will be joined by recalled hitman Carroll, who boasts 14 Origins to his name. He last played in Game 3 of the 2005 series.

The Maroons have been largely forced into changes by injuries, with Steve Bell and Karmichael Hunt unavailable.

Hodges ruled out for Maroons June 26, 2006 - 11:48AM

Queensland's State Of Origin injury curse has continued with damaging centre Justin Hodges unavailable for Wednesday week's series decider in Melbourne.

Brisbane's medical staff will inform Queensland selectors of Hodges' unavailability after he injured his ankle and re-tore his hamstring in the Broncos' 16-10 win over Manly at Brookvale Oval yesterday.
Maybe they forgot to tell the Qld selectors.

I feel for Matt Bowen - going from first choice to about 5th in line. Is he really playing that bad????? I don't think so. I think it's just things that were coming off for him last year just aren't quite working out this year, such as his attempted offload to Matt Sing a couple of weeks ago. He'll be back.

What the hell is with picking Hannay? He could barely make it into the Cowboys team until Ashley Graham got concussed. Also can't believe Bowen is left out.

Josh should be solid in defence and hopefully shut down one of the NSW centres. I think he's been pretty good for us over the last few weeks plus with injuries and retirements, we don't have alot of centres to choose from.

Matthew Scott has done nothing that deserves a second call-up.
