WHAT happens when country cousins collide? Regional respect goes on the line at Dairy Farmers Stadium this Saturday as the Townsville-based Young Guns face off against the Rockhapton-based Central Comets.

THE STORY: The only Queensland Wizard Cup game played this weekend pits the two Cowboys-affiliated teams in the competition against each other. With former Central players David Faiumu, Jason Barsley and Mark Henry now with North Queensland, the 2006 Comets have the incentive to perform and follow their lead.

THE STAT: Already boasting 25 Wizard Cup games to his name, including a Grand Final, 18-year-old Scott Bolton has been excused from this weekend’s State Under Age Carnival in Toowoomba. Although still likely to represent Queensland Under 19s, Bolton is intent on making his mark in the seniors. He is yet to receive a single QANTAS Player of the Year vote since debuting in 2004.

THE STAR: It’s been well over a year since Steve Southern was last seen at Wizard Cup level. Demoted from NRL to correct his defensive technique, the fiery redhead should have an interesting clash with rugged Comets backrowers Tyron Haynes and Andrew Dale.

CHANGES: NORTH QLD – In: Mark Henry, Rob Tanielu, Steve Southern, Scott Smith. Out: Greg Byrnes, Brett Firman, Ashley Graham, Dean Limpus.
CENTRAL – No personnel changes. Several positional changes.
